I was preparing for a time of bible study this morning when we read the passage about the pharisees bringing in a woman to be stoned because she committed adultery. In response to this Jesus says that the first person here, who has NOT committed a crime or a sin, may throw the first stone. The crowd slowly starts walking away.
I realized that what angers me the most is when I see christians judging or condemning people as if they had a right to. I believe that what Jesus teaches us the most in the bible is not to become like Jesus so that we can judge people, but to become like Jesus, so that we can show love and compassion to people. Jesus knows that it is impossible for us to be perfect so what he wants from us is to trust in him, and know him to the point of being able to love like he does. So many times we forget that doing this means seeing people around us as our brothers and sisters who are equally valued and loved by God. Living in this competitive world makes us see the negative sides of people, or their sins and try to use that against them, whether it be to make ourselves feel better or to seek revenge on that person. When we should really see those as an opportunity of Healing by GOD.
I think that what is most important in living my life out for Jesus, is not teaching or judging anyone, because what right do I have to do so?, but it is to show love, kindness, and Jesus to everyone I live in this world with. Knowing and showing that I am as EQUALLY as sinful as they are but also showing them that the only person who can love them unconditionally and can forgive their sins is God. That’s my real Job and real duty.
